Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, cream softened butter until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time and add vanilla.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean. Cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. For the frosting, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar and cream; bring to boil while stirring.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes before whisking in powdered sugar and vanilla. Adjust consistency if necessary.
  8. Once cooled, spread frosting over cake and sprinkle with pecans.
  9. Slice and serve.
