  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold, cut into small pieces)
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, combine mixed berries with 1/2 cup sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Toss gently and pour into the prepared dish.
  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
  4. Cut cold butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Stir in milk until just combined; do not overmix.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of topping over the berry filling and sprinkle with remaining sugar.
  7. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until topping is golden and filling bubbles.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
